What is First & Last-Mile Connectivity?[1]

  • It refers to critical aspect of reaching public transport stations i.e. bus stops, metro stations, or train stations, right from one’s home/office and back

It is one of the most crucial aspect to make public transport more accessible & popular alternative to private vehicles

Implementation

e-Bikes & e-Cycles[2][3]

Pilot project to be started with 3000 e-bikes & e-cycles across 90 high traffic areas in the Dwarka sub-city

Plan

  • 60% High & Low speed e-Bikes and 40% e-cycles
  • 250 locations in Phasewise deployment in Dwarka
  • 1500 vehicles in phase 1, 750 in 2nd phase, 750 in 3rd phase
  • Per minute usage charge, minimum 10 min & upper limit on the usage charge
  • 60 km per charge range for escooters
  • Seamless integrated tickets with buses/metro

Implementation

  • Floated tenders worth Rs18 Cr for high & low speed electric two-wheelers
  • Implementation timelines:
    • 4 months each for phase 1 and phase 2
    • 1 year period after phase 3 for operations and maintenance
