Delhi govt planned to eliminate all the dark spots of Delhi

Year 2016: 7,428 potentially dangerous dark spots identified across Delhi^[2:1]

• July 2018: Delhi government installed 2,10,000 streetlights^[1:1][4:1]
• Jan 2023: 1400 Dark spots found to be remaining^[4:2]
• April 2023; 70,000 More streetlights approved by Delhi govt^[4:3]

¶ Delhi Mukhyamantri Streetlights Yojna

• Total 2.80 Lakh streetlights sanctioned
• Sensor based On/Off Switch
• Local MLAs and the Government identify dark spots, the residents of Delhi can also nominate any dark spots under the Scheme^[1:2]
• Robust central monitoring system^[5][6]
• Automatic alarm trigger to repair in case of fault^[5:1][6:1]

¶ Smart Lights on PWD roads: Convert to Sensor based On/Off^[5:2][6:2]

Delhi government to convert all 90953 lights into smart lights on all roads maintained by the Public Works Department (PWD)

-- 59,572 traditional lights will be replaced with smart LED lights
-- 31,381 existing LED lights will be converted into smart street lights
