Infra Upgrade

25 new ITIs have been set up in the State[6:1]

  • 23 ITIs has been upgarded under World Bank assisted project STRIVE[6:2]
    • 12.72 crore has been spent on acquisition of the latest machinery to upgrade workshops
  • 5 ITIs to be converted into Excellence centres, in partnership with Rajya Sabha Member VikramJit Singh Sahni[7]
    • Rs 11 crore to be spent on this
    • Air hostesses, beauty wellness and junior nurses courses will be initiated at Mohali ITI Women
    • Lalru and Manakpur Sharif ITIs will be developed as drone academies
    • Patiala, Ludhiana, Manikpur Sharif in SAS Nagar, Sunam (Sangrur) and Lalru

Industry Partnerships

  • MoU signed with Tata Steel on 07 October 2024[8]
  • Partnership with leading companies such as ITC Ltd and Swaraj Engines Ltd[9]
  • Department has signed an MOU for academic cooperation with Homi Bhaba Cancer Hospital & Research Centre[6:3]

  • Offering engineering courses like Electrician and Mechanic-Diesel Engine in women's ITIs also
  • To provide vocational education to the youth in order to address the issues of unemployment and brain-drain
  • To bridge the skill gap and enhance employbality of youth in the state
