1. Digitally signed and QR coded certificates[3]

Earlier people used to visit any office/Sewa Kendra for collection of hard copies of certificates

  • Delivery of digitally signed and QR coded certificates to citizens via SMS and email since April 2023
  • Certificate could be downloaded from given links
  • The authenticity of these certificates can be checked online on e-Sewa portal

2. Online document verification: Saving multiple visits[4]

Earlier Citizens needed to make multiple visits for document verification
-- Including hassle of making multiple visits to obtain signatures from Sarpanchs, Nambardars and MCs

Online verification launched from Feb 2025 to eliminate the need for citizens to visit them individually
-- Patwari/Sarpanchs/Nambardars/MCs now do verification on the eSewa Portal
-- 98% officials and local representatives onboarded allowing them to digitally verify certificate applications[1:1]

  • Various certificates include Residence certificate, Caste (SC, BC/OBC) certificate, Income certificate, EWS certificate, Old Age Pension and Dogra certificate

3. Reduced Paperwork[5]

122 online portals were launched on 28 May 2022
-- These online portals would function through sewa kendras
-- Giving a big push to digitisation in various departments

  • Ensures delivery of services to public in real time, besides bringing more transparency in the official work

4. Others

Details

  • 438 total services delivered at 538 Sewa Kendras now[4:1]
  • On an average 30,000 people visit the Sewa Kendras daily across Punjab[6]
  • Sewa kendras serve ~90% of all people approaching for government service[7]
  • E-Sewa Punjab is a unified online platform by the Punjab government to provide citizen services to residents of the state
