Rs 1 cr to Martyr(Shaheed) family as an honary compensation by Delhi Govt

April 1, 2015: AAP Govt in Delhi enhanced ex-gratia amount to ₹1 crore to honour the bravehearts after their martyrdom[1][2]

Even USA govt gives only ~85 Lakh($100,000) under death gratuity program, as of 01 Feb 2024[3]

Delhi CM Mr. Arvind Kejriwal believes that the sacrifice of bravehearts can't be measured in any value and the ex-gratia amount would help the family financially

Details

  • Delhi CM or ministers go personally to handover the cheques to the family/kin of the martyrs at their homes[4]
  • Delhi govt also offers a Group ‘C’ or ‘D’ job to any one eligible family member of the martyrs[2:1]
  • This scheme was extended to 'Corona Warriors' who succumbed to Covid-19 in the line of duty, atleast 73 Corona Warriors benefitted[4:1][5]

  1. Defence personnel (Army, IAF, Navy) dying in operations/war if his permanent residence at the time of joining the service is Delhi or is posted in Delhi at time of action/incident or the family has been residing in Delhi for last 5 years (atleast)
  2. Paramilitary personnel dying in operations/war if his permanent residence at the time of joining the service is Delhi or the family has been residing in Delhi for last 5 years (atleast)
  3. Delhi Police personnel losing dying in discharge of bonafide official duty
  4. Home Guards and Civil Defence personnel working under the govt of Delhi/ Delhi Police dying in discharge of bonafide official duty
  5. Delhi Fire Services personnel dying in discharge of bonafide official duty
