¶ Multi Level Depots

With multi-level bus depots^[5]
-- More buses could now be parked in limited available space
-- “Parking cost per bus” will be much lower

• DTC Signed MOU on 27 October 2020, which appointed NBCC as the Project Management Consultant for the development multi-level bus parking depots^[5:1]

1. DTC Hari Nagar Depot^[6]

-- Space to accommodate 389 buses for parking
-- 200,000 sqft commercial space to cover the cost of building the depots

• Being built on 6.22 acres at cost of at Rs 334+ Crs
• 5 levels, including a basement, ground, two floors, and a terrace
• Basement will be used for car parking
• March 2024: J Kumar Infraprojects has been awarded the contract^[7]
• The project is scheduled for completion within a 24-month timeframe^[7:1]

2. Vasant Vihar Bus Depot^[8]

-- 3.5x More buses i.e. 434 buses for parking (Earlier capacity of only 125 buses)
-- No commercial space as land has been leased to the transport department by DDA solely for the depot; can not cannot sell or sublease^[6:1]

• Span 5 acres of land
• It will be completed in 2 years at a cost of ₹409.94 crore
• 7 floors, including a basement, ground floor, 4 floors, and a terrace
• 16 maintenance pits on ground floor
• 85 charging points for both buses and public vehicles on all floors
• Basement will be used for parking of 230 cars and 200 two-wheelers
• Solar panels of 122 kilowatt (KW) capacity will also be installed on the terrace
• 35 metres High with a total built-up area of 7.6 lakh square feet and ground coverage of 1.27 lakh square feet
• Zero-waste discharge depot with its own Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and green air-purifying plants at all levels

3. New Nehru-Place 5 storey Bus Depot cum Terminal^[2:2]

• The facility will have 17,225 square metres of space spread over 5 floors
• It will be able to accommodate over 120 buses and 472 cars
• The terminal basement will be used for parking the cars
• The transport department has signed a MoU with DMRC to develop the terminal under a public-private partnership
• The terminal will have a sizable number of charging ports for electric buses
• The total land area is 15,749 square metres and this five-storey bus depot will occupy 7,735 square metres plot. The remaining 8,014 square metres will be kept for a future bus depot

¶ Tech Innovations

• A bus weighs approximately 16 tonnes, and ~400 such buses will be parked here
• Vibration isolation technology to reduce the impact of heavy buses parked on top of each other by use of steel helical springs
• Two 6 metre-wide ramps will be installed on every floor with a gentle 1:20 slope i.e. 2 buses can pass through it at the same time. A bus is around 3 metres wide
• 45 degree angle for maximum parking efficiency
