2015: To improve women's safety in public buses in Delhi, Bus Marshals were deployed by Kejriwal Govt[1]

Dec 2022: 12,238 bus marshals have been deployed on the DTC & cluster buses[2]

01 Jan 2023: 91% of DTC buses and 100% of Cluster Buses have bus marshals in both shifts [3]

01 Nov 2023: Stopped from November 1, 2023 without AAP Govt's consent

Delhi CM demanded reinstatement bus marshals "The LG said the buses have CCTV panic buttons and there was no need to spend ₹280 crore on bus marshals" on Feb 29, 2024[4]

  • Civil defence volunteers and home guards deputed in DTC buses are referred to as Bus Marshals
  • Recruited by the Department of Revenue and the Directorate General of Home Guards respectively
  • Regular review of the bus marshal program is conducted in order to assess and improve the effectiveness by DDC & Department
