6 July 2022: Manish Sisodia launched ‘Mission Kushal Karmi’ to upgrade the skills of construction workers in partnership with Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU)[1]

Get paid with free training: Each construction workers will be compensated with Rs 4,200 (Rs 35 per hour of training) after training completion for the loss of wages[1:1]

Target: The government aims to train 2 lakh workers in a year under this programme[1:2]

Benefits[1:3]

This will boost workers' incomes by upto Rs 8000 as they become skilled category workers

  • Construction companies will also benefit from these skilled workers
    • Increase in workers' productivity by 40%
    • Increase quality of product by 25%
    • Decreases in wastage of materials by 50%
  • Government Certification will open up opporunities to abroad or next level higher-level training courses[2]
  • Improvement in domain skills and soft skills thereby making the worker more proficient and confident[2:1]
  • Improvement in the understanding of standard safety norms thereby increasing the longevity of work and social security[2:2]

Courses[2:3]

The following five courses have been selected and their course content finalized:

  • Assistant Mason
  • Assistant Bar Bender & Steel Fixer
  • Assistant Shuttering carpenter
  • Assistant Electrician
  • Assistant Construction Painter & Decorator

Features[1:4]

  • 15 days (120 hours) special training programme, workers will undergo upskilling
  • DSEU, along with Simplex, NAREDCO and India Vision Foundation will provide on job training at their workplaces
  • DSEU is running training centres at 3 places currently and more centres will be added in the coming days
  • DSEU and Delhi BoCW(Building and Other Construction Workers) Welfare Board
