  • Project to cost ₹162 crore and will be financed by the Delhi government

Gandhi Nagar market seeing over ₹100 crore in daily sales[1:1]

  • Home to 25,000 stores and 10,000 domestic production facilities
  • Market offers about 3 lakh direct and 6 lakh indirect job opportunities
  • Over the past few years, due to inadequate infrastructure, the turnover of the market has been dropping[1:2]

Proposed Renovation[2:1]

Renovation to additionally concentrate on the improvement of 2 MCD primary schools in the area[1:3]

Proposed plan includes:

  1. Redevelopment of arterial and internal roads
    • Plan also includes provisions for informative signboards and street furniture[1:4]
  2. Drainage improvement
  3. A multi-level car parking area
    • Site near the existing C&D plant identified for the multi-level car parking
  4. Six public toilets and two community toilets
  5. Fire management system
  6. Public transport such as e-carts
  • To make local transit easier, e-rickshaws and golf carts to be available from nearby Metro stations and parking lots [1:5]
