Singapore inspired transformation of delhi markets into culinary destinations aims to create new job oportunitites in the food sector[1]

Chandni Chowk and Majnu ka Tila chosen after a throrough analysis of all food hubs across Delhi[1:1]

1st phase of the redevelopment plan

  • Redevelopment plan launched under "Revitalzation of Delhi Food Hubs" Initiative[1:2]
  • Both the markets are known for their delicious offerings[1:3]
    • USP of Chandni Chowk is its popular Mughlai Cuisine
    • Majnu ka Tila is known for its Tibetian fare
  • Unique branding of these two markets as 'Delhi food hubs' of historical and cultural significance[1:4]
  • Redesigning of the 2 markets by architects who won a design competition[1:5]
  • Special focus on maintaing high standards of food, safety and cleanliness[1:6]
  • Infrastructure improvements of roads, sewage system, lighting and parking will be done[2]
  • Popular street food as well as other culinary specialities will be highlighted to promote culinary experiences of both domestic and foreign tourists.[3]
