MCD set to open 10 new theme parks for kids, one in each of its administrative zones
1 already open: Dianosour theme section in the Sarai Kale Khan park
--Increased the daily visitor count to 1000-2000 from a previous 500
- Structures in the upcoming parks will have innovative swings, slides, multiplay equipment, wall-holla and climbing nets designed into the central replica
- Each park to likely cost around ₹1.5-2 crores, and will take 8-9 months to develop
- Themes and dimensions of the structures currently being finalised
Over 1000 tickets sold every day in the first week of February in the Sarai Kale Khan park
- A giant 60-foot high diplodocus with an elongated neck that will serve as a slide for children
- 40 dinosaur sculptures made out of metallic scrap
- It has comfortable benches for the visitors, a connecting walkway to all the sculptures, garden huts and a food court
- The sculptures have been made using diverse material ranging from metallic scrap, construction and demolition waste, old tyres and garden waste
- ~300 tonnes of metallic scrap used for creating the dinosaur sculptures
- In many installations the skin texture has been made using rubber tyres
- MCD also plans to run a toy train for children in the theme park
Some giant installations have sound and light. The T-rex is made to appear as if it is breathing fire
