-- Haryana 56.80 lakh, Himachal Pradesh 27.68 lakh, Delhi 3.38 crore, Uttarakhand 8.27 lakh, Chandigarh 12.73 lakh

1. Mohali Project[4]

405 CCTV cameras are expected to rein in reckless driving[1:1]
-- With prompt e-challans, thereby bringing down accidents and subsequent fatalities
-- To be installed at a cost of ₹17.70 crore

Details

The ambitious project, as part of which 405 CCTV cameras are to be installed at vulnerable points

  • 216 automatic number plate recognition cameras
  • 104 bullet cameras
  • 63 red-light violation detection cameras
  • 22 pan, tilt and zoom cameras

Features

  • Pan, tilt and Zoom Cameras can see any object up to 200 meters by zooming in
  • Red Lights Violation Detection camera can automatically record the Zebra Crossing Front line jumpers
  • Automatic Number Plate Recognition Cameras would read the number plate by taking its’ digital format besides tracing out the route of vehicle snatches

Command and Control Centre[5]

  • Being set up at the Sohana police station in Sector 79, Mohali
  • System will be integrated with Sarathi and Vahan applications for e-challans

2. Ludhiana Project

Manual Interventions are still required for spotting & issuing e-Chalans

  • Initially only 3 to 4 e-challan points were functional in the city when AAP Govt took over[6]
  • Additional 18 roundabouts covered since 30 June 2024[7]
  • 26 more points planned[6:1]
  • The city’s e-challan system was launched in 2019 in 6 locations, which was reduced to 4[8]
