Halwara International Terminal project almost complete; to be finally completed this Feb 2025[1]

Till Nov 2022: Construction was largely stopped to the non-payment of funds for completion of the terminal building[2]
-- Work Restarted after AAP Punjab government decided to arrange for money to complete the project
-- Payment be later be reimbursed by Airport Authority of India(AAI)

Details

  • Total area: 161.28 acres and Terminal area: 2,000 sq m
  • Upcoming international airport in Halwara, about 40 kms from Ludhiana[3]
  • Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha: The Punjab Vidhan Sabha had recently unanimously adopted a resolution to request the Centre to name the airport after him[4]
  • Once the interim terminal building is finalised, the construction of the main terminal building, with an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore, will commence[1:1]
