A first-of-its-kind Jail to keep All terrorists, high-risk prisoners, dreaded gangsters etc
Target: To avoid inter-mixing of similar gangs and confrontation of anti-gangs & curtail their movement

Current Status:
Jail is expected to be completed by 2025
-- The tender for the construction works of the jail floated in June 2024
Dedicated court complex
- It would also have video conferencing infrastructure for hearings
- To curtail the movement of the prisoners and in the process prevent scenarios where prisoners attempt to escape if taken outside the jail for court hearings
- On similar lines, in house hospital facility would be provided in the jail
- There are 10 central prisons among total 25 prisons in the state currently
- Total sanctioned capacity to lodge 26,081 inmates, but 32,000+ inmates are lodged in the prisons, making these overcrowded
An area of up to 50 meters around the outer boundary wall of the prison will be declared as a prohibited zone to avoid throws inside jails
- The whole prison shall be made as a cellular prison
- Will be divided into various zones as per functional requirement
- The jail will come up in an area of 50 acres in Gorsian Kadar Baksh village in Ludhiana district
- Estimated cost to be Rs 100 crore
- Capacity to lodge 300 prisoners
