Increased Salary and Better Insurance for Electricity board employees of Punjab

Feb 2024: Punjab govt increased pay scale of PSPCL employees[1]
Dec 2023: NEW Accident Compensation Policy; added same coverage for contractual & sub-contractual workers[2]

Increased Pay scale[1:1]

Earlier, PSPCL employees had their pay scale less than that of other Punjab Government employees

New Accident Compensation Policy[2:1]

This reflects Punjab Govt's commitment to the safety and well-being of the workforce in the power sector

  • Advance Medical Expenses: Employees will have access to medical advances of up to 3 lakhs during emergencies, apart from accidental benefits
  • Ex-gratia assistance increased from 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs for fatal accidents
  • Group insurance value for such workers has been raised from 5 lakhs to 10 lakhs
  • Earlier no compensation in non-fatal accidents for contractual and sub-contractual categories
  • Now 10 lakhs compensation for 100 percent disability, proportionately determined based on the severity of the incident for others
  • Effective from December 8, 2023
