Anti-Gangster Task Force, established in April 2022 by AAP Govt, made significant strides in combating organized crime & stamp out gangsters and anti-social elements[2][3]

  • ~107 shootouts/encounters by Punjab Police in 2.5 years of AAP Govt, till Sept 2024[1:3]
  • In almost 80% of the cases, the gangster/s received bullet injuries to the legs[9]

Amritpal arrest & Peaceful handling

Radical preacher Amritpal Singh & Sikh separatist Amritpal Singh, was stirring fears of violence in sensitive border state Punjab with a history of bloody rebellion

Arrested without firing a Single Bullet

"The state could have arrested Amritpal on March 18, 2023 itself but their aim was to avoid any bloodshed" -CM Bhagwant Mann[12]

  • The operation was planned in a manner where there would minimum violence and maximum advantage in curbing any attempts to stoke separatist sentiments by Amritpal and his supporters[13]
  • The operation was carefully coordinated by the counter intelligence wing of Punjab police[13:1]
  • Emphasis on patience instead of using the might of the state to capture the fugitive[13:2]
  • Sensitive situation was managed where neither the crowds swelling in support for any public speech nor a sympathy wave for the fugitive who had been on the run for a month[13:3]

Sidhu Moosewala case

Special investigation team (SIT) has filed two chargesheets against 31 accused, including gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria [14]
-- 24 out of 31 have been arrested
-- 2 were neutralised in an Encounter by Punjab Police
-- 2 were killed during a clash in Goindwal jail in February 2023[14:1]
-- Accused Sachin Thapan Bishnoi extradited from Azebhaijan in August 2023[15]

3 accused, including Goldy Brar, are absconding and are believed to be abroad[14:2]

  • Moose Wala was shot dead by six assailants at Jawharke village in Punjab’s Mansa on 29 May 2022[14:3]
  • Gangster Goldy Brar, who is a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, had claimed responsibility for the murder terming it a revenge for the killing of Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukhera, who was shot dead in Mohali in 2021[14:4]
  • The police had identified the six shooters as Priyavrat Fauji, Kashish, Ankit Sersa and Deepak Mundi of the Haryana module and Manpreet Singh, alias Mannu, and Jagroop Singh, alias Roopa, of Punjab module[14:5]
  • Mannu and Roopa were killed in an encounter with Punjab Police in Amritsar on July 20, 2022[14:6]
