Won the prestigious "FICCI National Road Safety Award 2022" organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Delhi[1]

Introduction[2][3]

  • Full name is Punjab Road Safety & Traffic Research Centre (PRSTRC)
  • PRSTRC is a Research & Training institute affiliated with the Punjab Police
  • PRSTRC formed on 27 April 2022 by AAP Punjab Govt
  • The institute is headed by a domain knowledge specialist and has a team of road safety experts
  • Located in Mohali, Punjab

Achievements in First Year[4]

  • This center has identified 784 accident black spots in the state
    • Worked on 239 in first year, eliminated 124 i.e. 52% reduction in black spots
    • Significant reduction of 35% in fatalities in these locations
  • The center has trained more than 500 police personnel on crash investigation etc
  • Developed PATHS (Punjab Assessment Tool of Highway Safety), which is an innovative tool for assessing and identifying areas that require improvement to ensure safer roads.
