Participation of as high as 30 bidders(1st time) for running Skill Centers reposed faith in AAP Govt's functioning
MoU with Microsoft to enhance skill of 10,000 youths on 23 June 2024
Multi Skill Development Centres(MSDCs)
- There are 5 MSDCs, one each in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Amritsar, and Hoshiarpur
- Each MSDC has a capacity of 1500 candidates
- New training partners for 3 MSDCs are to be allocated
Health Skill Development Centres
There are 3 Health Skill Development Centres (HSDCs) in Punjab
- Emphasising on the need to focus on bridging the gap between industrial requirements and skilled manpower
- Panel created inclusive plan for optimum utilization of Health Skill Development Centres
- Committee comprising Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Punjab Medical Council (PMC) and Punjab Skill Development Mission formed
Rural Skill Centres(RSCs)
- Short term training (2 months to 1 year) courses will be undertaken under the scheme to train youth
- Focus on bridging the gap between industrial requirements and skilled manpower
- Suggestions sought from the stakeholders on the proposed Skill Training Scheme
- Discussions on the contours of the proposed Skill Training Scheme of the State with the help of the stakeholder departments and representatives of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Training Partners (TPs) and Industry
- Process started to identify experienced and reputed training partners in Sept 2023
- To deliver high-quality skill development programs across various sectors
- Punjab Govt is keen on imparting training in emerging fields including artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing etc
