1. Punjab Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences[1]

Punjab's 1st Super Specialty centre, established at SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab

After Delhi, it will be 2nd institute for liver diseases in the country

Current Status[2]

  • Indoor, Intensive care and Emergency services started from 29th Feb 2024
  • OPD services running since July 2023
  • Liver transplant facilities to start soon
  • Staff around 450 people including 80 specialist doctors

Tele-Medicine for connect with all the Government hospitals of the Punjab

  • The 50-bed institute offers OPD as well as indoor services
  • Apart from offering treatment for all kinds of liver ailments as well as liver transplant surgery, it will also offer DM course in hepatology and gastrointestinal surgery
  • Dr Virendra Singh, a liver specialist and former head of PGI’s department of hepatology, has been appointed the first director of the institute

2. State Cancer Institute at Government Medical College, Amritsar[3]

Institute has been constructed at a cost of ₹114 crore

3. Tertiary Cancer Center at Fazilka[3:1]

Institute has been constructed at a cost of ₹45 crore
