Punjab is the first state in the country to start this unique Scholarship Scheme for eminent national players^[1:1]

¶ Balbir Singh Senior Scholarship Scheme

• Punjab players who win any medal in the senior nationals will get ₹16,000 per month stipend for one year^[2:1]
• Winners at junior national medal winners will get a stipend of ₹12,000 per month for one year^[2:2]
• The player will get this amount per month for one year, regardless of the gold, silver or bronze medal he has won^[1:2]
• Initially scholarship was ₹8000 & ₹6000 for senior & junior players respectively but increased by CM Bhagwant Mann on 21 Apr 2023^[2:3]

This is different from the one time prize money given by Punjab Govt to National winners where^[2:4]

• Gold Medalists are felicitated with 5 lakh each
• Silver Medalists with 3 lakh and
• Bronze Medalists with 2 lahks each
