Opened on 4 November 2018 by CM Arvind Kejriwal[1]

Although announced in 2004 by Congress Govt, the bridge missed several deadlines. AAP Government finally took up the work after coming to Power in 2015[1:1]

Signature Bridge is India's first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge, showcasing the Namaskar Mudra[2]

Features

The pylon of the Signature bridge is the tallest structure in Delhi and is double the height of Qutb Minar with its 154-metre high viewing box[1:2][2:1]

  • The bridge was constructed by the DTTDC at a cost of Rs 1,518.37 crore [3]
  • It spans the Yamuna river, connecting Wazirabad to East Delhi; Solved connectivity issues around East-Delhi[3:1]

Eiffle Tower like Sky view & Inclined Lifts[4]

  • Inclined lifts: The people will be taken to the top of the bridge in 4 elevators with a total capacity of carrying 50 people in the legs of the bow-shaped pylon of the bridge
    • 2 lifts are inclined at 60 degrees
    • 2 lifts are inclined at 80 degrees
  • All glass viewing gallery: At the top of the bridge, this viewing gallert is ready for people to enjoy a panoramic view of the city

Such inclined lifts & Viewing gallery are there in the Eiffel Tower in Paris[4:1]

Inclined lifts satisfy even international standards but old Indian laws are a hindrance for its opening as governed by colonial-era law Bombay Lift Act, 1939, adopted by Delhi in 1942[5][4:2]

The lifts may or may not open for the public, but the Signature Bridge is already a tourist destination[5:1]
