Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala to get e-buses^[1]

05 March 2024: Announced by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema during the state Budget^[1:1]

Punjab Local Government Department will launch electric buses, in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as

• States will be responsible for running the bus services and making payments to the bus operators^[2]
• e-buses will be deployed using public-private partnership (PPP) model^[1:2]
• 10-year operational cost will be shared between state and center^[2:1]
• Payments to the bus operators to be made on a per kilometre basis^[2:2]
• Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) is the aggregator for the scheme for collective Bidding for all states i.e. cheaper price^[2:3]
