Life-saving treatment now in Govt hospitals for heart attacks & serious blood disorders

¶ 1. STEMI project for heart attacks ('Mission Amrit')

583 lives saved in pilot phase; now in all 23 districts (expanded statewide on 1 July 2025)^[1][2]
-- 14,000+ chest pain patients screened; 1,305 heart attack (STEMI) patients identified in pilot^[1:1]

Free clot-busting injection (Tenecteplase, costs ~₹30,000 in market) at district & sub-divisional hospitals within the golden hour^[1:2]

How it works (Hub & Spoke)^[1:3]

• Spokes: District & sub-divisional hospitals diagnose via tele-ECG with cardiologists & give the injection
• Hubs (6): DMCH Ludhiana, GMCH-32 Chandigarh, Govt Medical Colleges Patiala, Faridkot & Amritsar, AIIMS Bathinda for further treatment
• 700+ doctors & staff trained at DMCH Ludhiana

Earlier: Heart patients lost 2-3 critical hours reaching a big hospital^[1:4]

¶ 2. Bone marrow transplant

Punjab's 1st public-sector bone marrow transplant (BMT) facility with CMC Ludhiana (MoU, 12 June 2025)^[3][4]

• Free HLA typing & subsidised transplants for poor patients
• Priority for thalassemia children under 12: a successful transplant cures them, no lifelong blood transfusions
• Also for blood cancers & other blood disorders; centre to train doctors too
