OTS scheme for pending Tax cases of traders was super Successful

OTS-2025 (July 2026): ₹167.23 crore tax deposited by taxpayers; ₹534.54 crore relief given through waiver of tax, interest & penalty; 9,782 applications; deadline extended to 30 Sept 2026[1]

Many pending old Tax regime cases including VAT were leading to unnecessary harrasment to traders & burden on Govt offices as well
-- Cases dated back to 1952 or 1967 of even smaller amounts were pending

AAP Govt's Super Successful OTS

-- Govt has collected ₹164.35 Crore tax[2]
-- Even neighbouring Chandigarh Traders sought OTS scheme on Punjab pattern[3]

2 earlier OTS schemes under Congress Govt FAILED which collected merely ₹8.21 crore and ₹4.94 crore only[4]

Investor-friendly AAP Govt[2:1]

Total 70,311 businesses have availed the benefits of AAP's OTS
-- 50,903 dealers benefited with ₹221.75 Crore waived off in the slab of up to ₹1 lac arrear
-- 19,408 dealers benefited with ₹644.46 Crores waived off in the slab of ₹1 lac to ₹1 Crore arrear

OTS lauched on 06 Nov 2023 for settlement of pre-GST arrears, benefiting more than 70,313 traders[4:1]

  • 100% waiver in case of arrears up to Rs 1 lakh as on 31 March 2023, which would cover nearly 39,787 cases
  • Waiver of 50% of the tax amount, 100% interest, 100% penalty is given in nearly 19,361 cases with total arrears from ₹1 lakh to ₹1 crore
  • Applicable for November 15, 2023 - March 15, 2024
  • 09 March 2024: OTS scheme 2023 for VAT payment deadline extended from March 15 to June 30[6]
  • 03 July 2024: Extended till August 16, 2024 for remaining remaining 11,559 dealers[7]
