New Govt old age homes: ₹9.12 crore 'Satkar Ghar' at Mansa (72 beds, inaugurated Jan 2026) with free day care, meals, medical help, library & yoga room[1]; ₹8.21 crore old age home at Barnala dedicated[2]

2026-27 social security: ₹3,243 crore released to 36.39 lakh people so far; ₹2,401.67 crore of it to 26.94 lakh senior citizens and persons with disabilities[3]
-- Old-age pension alone: ₹2,507.98 crore to 24.07 lakh senior citizens (2026-27 up to Sept); budget provision ₹4,000 crore[4]
-- Budget provision for social security schemes: ₹6,131.91 crore[3:1]

Saade Buzurg Saada Maan campaign[5]

Launched on 3 October 2023, covered every district

Hoshiarpur: 690 senior citizens were given Free Eye Glasses along with other services on 17 Nov 2023[6]

Health Checkup & Eye Surgeries

Free Distribution of eye glasses & Eye surgeries were done

  • Comprehensive geriatric care for age-related diseases
  • ENT (Ear Nose Throat) check-ups, eye examinations
  • Essential medications for senior citizens

Govt Pension & Cards

  • Issuance of Senior citizen cards
  • Provide Assistance in filling out old age pension forms

Old Age Homes

Goal: Old Age Home to be established in all districts of Punjab

Plan

  • Planned to open New old age homes in 10 districts[7]
  • Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Jalandhar, Kapurtthala, Patiala, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Nawannshahr, Mohali and Malerkotla districts[7:1]

Completed: 2 new old age homes

  • Mansa: ₹9.12 crore 'Satkar Ghar' (72 beds) inaugurated Jan 2026[1:1] (was 60% complete in Aug 2023[8])
  • Barnala: ₹8.21 crore old age home dedicated[2:1] (was 82% complete in Aug 2023[8:1])

  • Only 1 is existing, established in 1961
  • This is located in Ram Colony Camp Hoshiarpur

Old Age Pension

  • Old age pension is given at Rs 1500 per month[10]
  • 22 Lakh beneficiaries (2024)[11]; 24.07 lakh in 2026-27[4:1]
  • Door step delivery of the pension [12]

Elderline - Helpline no 14567[13]

July 2026: 2.5 lakh+ calls handled; 91 abandoned senior citizens reunited with families; 1,000+ elder abuse & maintenance cases resolved[14]
