Jan - Dec 2022: Punjab witnessed a decline of 0.24 per cent in road accident fatalities in comparison to 2021[2:2]
-- Despite Motor vehicles registeration in Punjab grew at rate of 7.44%

  • Punjab had registered 4,578 road accident fatalities[2:3]
  • Over Speeding and Animals remained a leading cause of road accident[2:4]
    • 2085 people died due to overspeeding
    • 421 due to the involvement of animals
  • Road accidents accounted for a loss of Rs 21,517 crores[2:5]
