The Nursery admission process is a struggle for every parent in India which involves private schools indulging in many malpractices

Unanimously passed by Delhi Assembly in 2015, they have NOT yet approved by Central Government[2]

In 2017-18, Delhi government started nursery and pre-primary classes in Govt Schools[3]
All private unaided schools to remove certain unfair admission criteria and replace them with reasonable and transparent ones
-- At least 38 such admission points were black listed[4]

1. The Delhi School Education (Amendment) Bill (DSEAA)
This bill prohibits screening procedure for nursery/ pre-primary admissions in schools
2. The Delhi School Verification of Accounts and Refund of Excess Fee Bill
3. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Delhi Amendment) Bill
“Right to Education Act, 2009, prohibits screening procedures in the matter of admission of a child in a school and makes it offence punishable under the law. However, the (RTE) Act, does not apply to children below 6 years of age and so does not apply to nursery class admissions”.[2:1]
"The proposed legislation will significantly help slash fees in private schools and if laid down norms are not followed, then violators will be slapped with hefty financial penalty and jail term" -Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal[1:3]
