Earlier, government schools had a shortage of benches, children sitting on mats, broken walls, leaking roofs, unclean toilets, no boundary walls, and no security guards
Target: All 20,000 government schools of Punjab should see improvement in terms of better infrastructure and other facilities
¶ 1. New classrooms[1]
10,000+ new state of art modern classroom have been built
- Budget: Rs 800 crore[2]
¶ 2. School Wall boundary construction[1:1]
In 75 years under Congress/BJP, Govt schools didn't even have boundary walls
Building boundary walls in 8000+ schools constructed
-- Total length of boundary walls to be constructed: 1,400 kilometers
- Budget: Rs 358 crore[2:1]
¶ 3. Benches and Furniture[1:2]
1+ Lakh dual desks bought & provided to government schools
- CM Bhagwant Mann had said there will not be a single school left in the state which will be devoid of benches in a year’s time[3]
- Budget: Rs 25 crore[2:2]
¶ 4. Washrooms
Bathrooms have been constructed in 1,400+ schools[1:3]
- Budget: Rs 60 crore[2:3]
- CM Bhagwant Mann had said within a year, all schools will have separate toilets for girls and boys[3:1]
¶ 5. Wifi/High Speed Internet in all Schools[4]
18,000+ schools have received internet connection as of 18 Oct 2024[5]
- MoU between the Education Department and BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) on 13 September 2023
- Total 19,120 primary/middle/high/secondary Schools will be covered with high-speed fiber internet as per plan
- WIFI connection in each school
- This project will cost Rs 29.3 crore, Deadline: March 2024
