Delhi case study: AAP freebies a relief from rising disparity & boost to economy

A survey published by DDC[13] of all households including both posh & poor colonies across 11 district in Delhi found that AAP subsidies provided significant relief to tackle the rising disparity under Modi Govt:

1.Highest(not average) monthly saving is for free & quality Education = ₹1267
2.Second Highest monthly saving is for free & quality Healthcase = ₹1071

  1. Bridging rich-poor disparity: An average Delhi household saved over Rs. 29,000 per year, more for poorer families


  1. Bottom up economic boost: 95% of households spent the saved amount on food, medicines, education, appliances etc

  1. The subsidies had a significant impact on saving and expenditure pattern

  • Investment on People: Delhi spends highest on health and education to honor its promise to deliver free quality education and free quality healthcare
  • Yet it maintains the lowest average fiscal deficit and lowest outstanding debt as compared to all other states
  • In addition Delhi gets the least amount of funds from the center despite contributing significantly in central taxes[14]
